Ok so although alot seem to like the new announced 50th Steel Speedy I am not one of them. No offence to those who do but I promised myself a special purchase this year and I'm looking for alternatives I currently own a couple of Seamasters aswell as a St1 and 2 .I would appreciate some ideas of what else I might look into. I am not a rich man so i like to buy what I feel is a good investment aswell as enjoyment. I like the Apollo 35th but it's slightly out of my price range? Throw some ideas at me. Thanks in advance

A plain vanilla modern Speedmaster or a nice 145.012, perhaps?

If you have a ST1 and 2 already why not just hold your fire and see how things shake out, I wouldn't rush into another watch unless something really grabs you and talks to you.

What about a vintage speedy... depending on the budget you are talking about of course but if in the same kind of range like the 50thA. LE a decent vintage might do the work... as IPNW said, 105.012/145.012/transitionnal just to have something different from modern pieces unless you totally prefer modern ones...

'67 Speedmaster -- still has the 321, has a DON, and it is the least expensive of all the 321 Speedys. Why settle for a brand new Speedmaster that celebrates something from 50 years ago when you can actually get the real thing? (yeah, a 145.012 is a later model by 2 years, but it is far closer to the 105s then a brand new one, and it will likely continue to appreciate over the long-term)

You could always look at something like this which is a Speedmaster with a twist and none of that bothersome hand winding. step0001 black.jpg

I was in your shoes. I walked into the OB planning to place a deposit for the Apollo 11 50th but then decided to go for the Apollo 8 instead. I find the 8 much more special and unique.

A 105.012 with a proper horned-end mesh JB champion bracelet...! The proper Apollo anniversary watch.

Nasty agricultural movement though eh? A kind of posh Tag these days I believe, the residuals are horrific*. Great trolling but I am not buying it. In either sense.

*I don’t really hate Zeniths but my nonsense is about as well considered as his and Zenith and Tag are indeed both part of the LMVH Group, just like Swatch and Omega are part of Swatch Group lol.
