On seeing this Constellation just listed on Ebay I immediately recognized it as being one that I´ve actually had in my hands at a watch fair not too long ago. From 3 metres away it looked to be in fantastic shape and when I first spotted it it was a definite buy, but unfortunately on closer inspection and as can be seen from the very last picture in what is a very large set of pictures the case is not all that it seems to be... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18K-ROSE-...421?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19fc967205Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
You'd imagine they'd sign their work at least though, Dennison, Jorrel etc always tend to have clear markings
Most likely a recent custom/reproduction or fake case, since the medallion doesn't follow convention at the time of the calibre 505. By the look of the case clamps, the movement seems to go through the front or not tightened to the case at all.
Watch out guys this one is back again...this time with a spicy BIN http://www.ebay.com/itm/18K-YELLOW-...485?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c4fa95045Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
yes - i think that it would sell in an auction for 1-2k when i take a glimpse at passed solid gold connies ebay auctions. there are a lot of bidders out there wo dont notice it being a fake case and pay a lot for it
This seller is really trying to deceive here at no point does he mention a `custom` case, and I use the term loosely. When I originally inspected it at the fair, as I picked it up and asked the price he told me IIRC 2000 Euro, as soon as I detected the problems and went to put it down without making an offer he started to attempt negotiations with me. I said I wouldn´t be making an offer due to the same reasons we have noted above in this thread. What surprised me was his reaction, instead of denial and arrogance that I was wrong and the piece was perfect ( which is most of the time the reaction of a seller when confronted face to face with an unpleasant truth) he just looked at me and said, `` OK, what will you pay for it? `` He knows for sure all the issues and is now having trouble offloading it, but with a BIN like that he is going to be holding the baby for a good while to come.
nah, he just needs to find some hosewife which seeks for a "nice" watch for her husband, in the best case. or somebody who wants to purchase his first conny and considers it as "just another golden watch"
Well in fact I almost bought similar cased Connie back in dec 12 if not because many member in here steer me away from my foolishness.
