All clasps should look like this.

I totally get it but like well maintained dress shoes, I like to take care of my belongings to be more presentable in my field of work.

You can tell an awful lot about a person by their shoes.

I ordered the same 3M paint protection film employed to protect automobile paint. In the past, I've applied it myself to my Harley. and have had it professionally applied to my cars. I thought if the film would protect automotive paint from rock chips, it might also save the clasp of my new 300M.

Here is the cheapskate version -- Gorilla tape, kitchen scissors and felt-tip. Job's a good un!

And here's another of my bracelets, before Michael Young polished it when I said not to.

I was troubled when my PO clasp got scuffed up on my work desk within the first week or two. Now I don't feel so bad. (And yes, if it's going to get scuffed up, I need a better story to go along with it.)

I was nervous about damaging the clasp at first when I got my first nice watch.
As careful as I am, I still managed to ding it off doors, bang it on the desk or hood of the car and did a job scratching it at work all while being overly cautious.
Whenever I stopped worrying about it, it seemed like I stopped banging it off of things. I do have an extra mouse pad at work to keep the desk rash from happening on the clasp but not so much for the clasp but it has become a comfort thing now.
That clear film makes sense too but I would think it would get funky after a while.

This is abuse. I’m calling CPS.
.
Commissione della Politica di Sicurezza?
Cheap Plastic Stuff?
Confirmation of Professional Standards?
Courtaulds Pension Scheme?
Canadian Paediatric Society?

Ah, got it, in view of my beat up riveted Oyster -- Crown Prosecution Service.

That bracelet spent its first 8 years on the wrist of a North Sea diver, then 13 on mine servicing rally cars on Internationals, foredeck sail changing in North Sea races and timing the cooking of hand-made pasta. Since then I've looked after it, mainly due to growing old and diminishing activity. It's a tool bracelet 😁

The signs of 17 years of daily use! I have a new clasp still in its packaging, Gifted to me by Omega after they messed up a service- never bothered to fit it.
