what are alerts for? I've seen about 8 alerts that popped up on the screen & don't know how to see them. What do I have to do to see those alerts? What are they for?

 

Click the “alerts” word and it will show a list of alerts.

 

And the "ALERTS" are accessed by clicking on the "LATEST" link at the top of the window. Very useful, because you can see if you have been tagged or quoted in another post. It's a way for people to get your attention.

Also, not of any practical utility, but you can see if one of your posts has been "liked".
