Thanks for sharing, I'll play but I'm always skeptical about Phillips

May I ask why you're sceptical of Phillips? Full disclosure - I've a bid in for this watch (though I don't expect to win it).

I've heard a few unpleasant stories about them but I'm also suggesting it'll go high.

It will. I've no interest in NOS generally. I want an albino to wear. And I've bid what I'd pay for one. So mostly I am just torturing myself.

Watching this auction as well. All of these watches are going for crazy high prices that none of us mortals can even come remotely close to achieving. Huge spenders, celebrities, charity money, etc.

In comparison with the prices Silver Snoopy's are purportedly selling for, the Albino result (USD40,320 all-in) shouldn't be unexpected. Only 500 Albino's produced and they rarely change hands, versus 1970 Silver Snoopy's where current demand & pricing is most likely largely underpinned by speculators and FOMO buyers.

    No...

They are regularly sitting on C24 for ~20k and over the last year, even recently, I have seen a few between 16 and 20. And if you have a budget of around 20 +/-, I think you can find one without too much trouble.

This one was “NOS” - take limited and add unworn for 20+ years, so sure a premium of some amount is to be expected... maybe as much as 50%+, who knows TBH. In a world where condition is everything, I can see someone paying that much more for an unworn one to be put in a safe.

Then add the big money and unexplainable high prices these auction house auctions are achieving, and it adds up. When you sandwich an Omega between AP skeleton tourbillion perpetual calendars, it’s amazing what can happen.

I don’t think this has anything to do with Snoopy prices.

My point was the intrinsic value is not hard to fathom for the Phillips watch given what it is (NOS, etc) particularly when benchmarked against prices for the far more numerous Snoopy's. I would rather pay the current market price for an Albino than for the over-hyped Silver Snoopy but, hey, you do whatever floats your boat.
