Alaska Project

What do you guys think? I haven’t seen it discussed at all with the fanfare of the newest speedy—the white dial version. The movement of the Alaska project isn’t rare (1861) and can be found in many watches. Sure, it’s a limited edition of 1970 and the marketing story is great, but does the newest iteration of the speedmaster reduce the desirability of purchasing an Alaska Project watch and therefore reduce its value going forward? Will it remain a coveted piece of horology?

Personally, it’s a watch I’ve always admired, but could never justify at its current valuation. Even if it came down in price substantially, I’d be more interested in a tin tin. Just curious what others think. And for those speedy owners out there; what watch do you currently have the itch to purchase?

Is an Alaska project truly a modern watch?

I personally would prefer a snoopy watch (not a plastic one.) Even that has been out for a while.

YMMV
