I wonder if I could ask for some help? I am trying to tie down when the ‘Societe D’Horlogerie La Generale’ or ‘The General Watch Company’ became independent of The Brandt brothers and Omega.

I have seen dates of 1905 and 1911 but from some of the snippets of adverts I've seen, which I think could come from A Journey Through Time, the date could be as late as the mid 20s.

By 1930 General seem to have settled on Helvetia as their main brand name and released a range of movements and watches so I think it is before then and Mikrolisk shows the name Helvetia registered to General in 1925 with the note that is was acquired from Omega so I think that is probably the latest date.

Does AJTT give any more info in the text as to when the split happened? General and Helvetia carried on through to the 1980s and they are obviously not covered in the book up to then so if there is any more info I would be grateful.

    Many thanks.
