Hello all. Have a quick question. I'm fairly ignorant of Rolex especially having only owned one, a Datejust, which was a gift. I'm starting to educate myself now. My question is, do all Air Kings with a date window actually say "Date" on the dial or were there variants without the text? Thanks.
Well, I am unable to comment on whether they all include to word date on the dial. But my 1971 Air King has the words Air King Date on the dial.
Here is the history of the Rolex Air King - http://www.rolexmagazine.com/2013/07/the-complete-history-of-rolex-air-king.html
Thank you for the comments. My question still remains, however... Were there any date dials produced without the "Date" text on the dial?
I know of an Air King for sale with a date but the dial just says "Air King". It is moot now, as the watch is now sold. However, I would like to know for my own edification.
Next time post a picture or the link of the for sale ad. The purpose for adding the link in my post above was to show that the Air King was in production for over 70 years. So if the watch you were looking at was sold, do you at least know the decade of year of production and model the watch was from ?!
I wrote this article. Ha! Small world eh? I can say definitively that every AKD will say "Air-King Date" on the dial. Anything else is something else
