The one model of Omega that I do not have but want is a Constellation. For this one, I am considering steel with white markers because all of my vintage Seamasters ended up being gold, and I don't want to pay for solid gold anyways.

I like dauphine hands, not a fan of stick hands. Not a fan of stick lugs, either.

Given these desires, what vintage Constellation would you suggest that might be more affordable because it lacks certain features everyone wants?

    Thanks

    Tom

    Stick hands is easily understood.
What do you mean by ‘stick lugs’?

Dome dials are more affordable than pie-pans.
The round cased hidden-crown Connies are more affordable than lyre-lugs or doglegs (but these may be the stick lugs you refer to. )
C-cases are also more affordable and the earlier ones do have dauphine hands.

I have a Seamaster in one of those cases; I do actually like them. Thanks for sharing!

This is an example of stick lugs:

Pretty much everything I dislike in one watch.

    Thanks!

    1. What do you consider "affordable"?

    2. What features would you prefer?

I like collecting 14393s and 14900s–the former is less expensive because it has curved lugs rather than dog-leg versions. In my opinion though, they both look excellent.
If you're interested in bumpers, the 2652 and 2852 are pretty common, but harder to find in decent condition. However, nice pie pan dial bumpers can be especially expensive.

I'd suggest a dome dial with dog leg case such as a 168.005. Classic, and affordable.

This was going to be my next question.
One man’s affordable is another man’s king’s ransom.

Really can’t disagree with you there.

I thought that might be the case but that is a late 60s 168.018 version with a flat dial, stick hands and an expressed crown and ‘stick lugs’ can come in different forms.
Hidden crown Connies are so much nicer ( and affordable)

    1. Perhaps $1500? I get a company bonus once a year and I want to study up so I can find something Iike.

    2. Steel case, white markers, officially certified. Bumpers are acceptable. Works well with a bracelet. Nothing newer than 1965.

This one I like. Curved lugs will suit a bracelet better, no date, I'd rather not have a cross-har but I can live with it.

I wouldn't MIND gold on steel, but it would have to be a heck of a deal.

Thanks for your help so far, I appreciate it very much.

    With a budget of $1500 I'd be looking for a piepan 2852.

Dear all, I’m evaluating to buy this 168.019 day date with grand soleil dial.
    Quick question for you guys:
What do you things about the scratch on the dial?

    Welcome @Dottinve
To receive comments you would be better off starting your own thread rather than taking @VetPsychWars thread off on a tangent.
Also, we need better (in focus) pictures to assess your target watch.

If you are filling a gap in your collection then , whilst I personally prefer dome dials, you should probably be looking at a pie-pan as it is the iconic feature of a Constellation.
Arrowhead dials do come at a premium but for a budget of $1,500, with a little patience and a fair wind, most SS Connies should still be within your reach.
