Advises for a vintage Rolex Air King

Hi ladies and gentlemen,

I found a vintage Rolex Air King, dated 1987, grey dial, 34 mm, steel case, coming with box and papers, in a watch repair shop that I know a bit and which, in my opinion, can be a bit expensive. The watch is in really good conditions (see pictures below) and it's been a while I'm looking for a Rolex.

The price the guy is asking me for is 2250€. This is where I would need your help and advices as my research on the internet and other Rolex books I get ended up with Air King at less than 2000€ up to more than 5000...! Do you think this one a good deal or it's too expensive and I should go away? 😉

Thank you for your help!

Bracelet is stretched and case is over polished. You could find a better example for the money, I think.

Hard to say from the pics, but the hands look to be replaced or relumed. I’d say keep looking.

Case is badly over polished. I have a suspicion this watch is older than 1987. Chances are the year of production is stamped inside the case back. Compare the look to my 1971 Air-King Date.
