    Good day members,
A friend has come to me with these pictures.
I am not well verse on the different variation of these 861's.
Can anyone shed light on its value?
1171 bracelet included. Seller is asking €3600.
Is this a fair price? My only concern is the beat up bezel. The case looks untouched.
Speedmaster101 has the 1978 pitched at
US$3800 head only for a 'Good' conditioned example, US$3100 for a running one.

    Thank you.

    Hi and good morning

The overall condition is matching. It looks nice to me. I think a little cleaning amd a crystal polish will do a lot good to it.

    I wouldn’t change anything

Value is absolutely ok incl the old 1171, my opinion on the 101 price nosense is widely know.

Given the overall condition and appearance, I think the price is slightly on the high side. However, not ridiculously so.

Thank you David, my gut feeling also.
    I had suggested €3200.

Thank you also @Vintagewtchzilla for your advise.

The Speedmaster 101 "price nonsense" is based upon the personal experience of @Spacefruit, and makes no claim to be anything else.
(quotes are from SM101 price chart)
"This Chart is FOR MY REFERENCE. You are welcome to use it and remember your experience and opinion of prices may well be different, and it is equally valid. My Chart, my experiences, my Values. If you disagree, then try instead to see the relationship between the values and that could still be helpful. I am not omnipotent, and this is the best I can do with the resources I have."

"The prices here DO NOT reflect retail prices (as found in Vintage Watch Shops), or often not even dealer prices all of which are often 20%-100% higher. Almost every price in the chart is backed up by a known purchase or sale, often my own. " (end of quotes)

I'm interested to know why you say it is nonsense? Are you referring to the way people choose to interpret the chart? ::confused2::

£4,600 is about £2,000 more than I think that watch is worth ;-)

I recently acquired (from a well-informed source), a comparatively mint -78 for a friend, that had been freshly serviced by one of the best, and I sourced a good 1171 bracelet for it - all for about £3,300.

For people selling, the price is far too low. For buyers it is listed as too high :)

Hi Ewand, £3300 seems to be where the seller was pitched at, around €3600, though it is far from mint as your example, bracelet looks tired and service unknown.

Seller, by placing on eBay at that level, is obviously accounting for fees as well.

    Thanks

I'll be posting soon a 105.012 CB when it returns from service, the chart (as a seller) I'm in favour of

Interested to know: Will you stick close to the chart, based upon the reference and year, or make some adjustments (up or down) that reflect the individuality of your watch?

Pretty educated lot here, far more educated on the subject than me so definite concessions will be made based on condition/originality of parts.

Bought this 145022-78 for £3150 a month back ... absolute minter! But I think I got a good price for this one. Probs would have paid more.

Yes, but eBay fees don't affect what a buyer is willing to pay. :D

Based on the other excellent examples of 145.022-78s shown by other members in this thread, it does not seem like your friend missed out on a great deal.

Maybe not for the moment. The market is strong.

The lume on these late 70s early 80s dials are usually turning in a gorgeous yellow you cannot stay insensitive ::love::

@Boony I have two questions for you:
    Is that a triple 6 I spy I above? :)
Is your handle taken from an infamous Australian cricketer? :D:D
