Hi guy's, I'm new to this forum but already a small watch collector for some years. My first Omega was a vintage Deville from my grandfather he gave me when I was a teen. Sadly lost that watch during a move ( suspect my ex trown it away as beeing "old junk"). I found a 66 Seamaster 300 ref 165024 online I'm interested to buy. After carefully examin the pictures it looks to be a completely untouched original one (apart fro the naiad crown that looks like a replacement. On the case back there is an inscription " your divingbuddies" with a date so this has clearly been a pressent to the first owner. Does this affect in any way (good or bad) the value on the watch? Does anyone maybe recognise this watch, as I don't fully trust the seller as it's been offered below the value.
Looks like an honest original tool watch, except for the crown you pointed out and the crystal is a service one. The movement has seen better days, but also looks quite decent if it keeps time, and the case is a bit soft but expected for a tool watch. Do you have a picture of the inside of the case back? The serial seems to match approx -66 as well as the bezel. It all comes down to how much the seller is asking for it? Does it have a Extract of the Archives?
It doesn't has an Extract of the Archives. The price is as low I'm not sure if it's a scam or the seller doesn't know the value. I will see if I can meet him this week to check the watch. Picture of the caseback
At first I wasn't sure about the lume looking at the structure of the loom but the pinholes at 12 and 6 are there
Looks solid, I also take back my opinion of a service crystal, it looks quite flat surfaced now when I look at it again. My opinion on a “fluffy” looking lume is due to moisture on the dial from time to time, but not enough to turn it “bad”. This would also explain the traces of moisture in the movement. But you should get a second opinion on this.
