Evening all, Just after a little advise on this GMT. Love the look of the patina colour but do you think it’s natural or due to water damage/ ingres? Can’t be sure if that cheesy dirt around the case back or rust?? Annoyingly no movement pictures Thanks in advance gentlemen
Patina is indeed water damage. That water damage could be either humidity or just water getting into the case. In this case, I would say that this watch has seen better times, that patina doesn't seem to be naturally made, as well as the broken gmt hand arrow. Maybe that cheesy dirt you find is just dirt and has nothing to do with water. Nevertheless I think a good ultrasonic clean is needed. Cheers
That looks like wrist cheese and not rust. It’s teally hard to develop rust on SS. As for the dial, that’s does look like it has been exposed to moisture. A picture of the movement would be nexessary to confirm. Otherwise, the case and dial are quite attractive, just need to do a bit more diligence.
On a more serious note, this is a gorgeous dial IMO. I would want to see better photos and with the time set to 10:10! Also a good way to help confirm they still have the watch. Movement photos are also a must here. The hands need some work but all of this has to be put into context by the asking price. @rincondeltiempo don’t mean to be pedantic but I’m not sure patina is water damage... I thought it was just oxidation caused by contact with the air over time. Not sure it matters, not trolling, just curious. And I agree with you on that cleaning! Needs a deep clean, stat. But if the dial is intact, what a lovely piece it could be. Again...all goes back to the asking price.
15000£ ack!!!! Well sounds like I missed the boat on 16750s I’d be glad to have lost out on that auction.
