Evening Gentlemen I’m just after a little advise on this speedy 2998-4 I may have the opportunity to acquire. What are people’s thoughts on the originality of the lume and hands?? Or indeed any other red flags. I will try and get a few more pictures tomorrow as appreciate it’s a little tough to tell with these.
Definitely take more pics showing the lume -- and closer up, please! The 9:00 marker lume looks a little porky but I would not be willing to bet one way or the other based that one dial photo.
I think the lume looks greenish because of that horrible green carpet Ask for more photos, on a neutral background
Agree with Kov . Ive never seen a 2998 with that greenish colour, but I also haven't seen All the 2998s im the world. Get pics of the 6 on the ends too...
Per MWO .....Pretty darned good...Later crown.. Spear and straight chrono hand seem to pop around in these references. SN 17.762..... to 18.419.....
Incorrect chrono hand; one pusher also incorrect; the lume I am totally undecided on. I don't think it's been relumed, instead it looks like it has a lot of loss. However, the photos are poor and you'd have to get really good, in focus, pictures without the glare from the glass. The -4 came with both baton and alpha hands so they're correct but I prefer the look of the alphas. Anyway, it looks like any "faults" are what you would expect to see from normal wear, tear and service. All comes down to price but, please, get some detailed photos.
Oh god, now I'm doubting myself. I thought the lower one was the original small pusher and the top is a later medium one ... and now that you've asked me, I'm not sure if they're not both the same size.
Had this discussion with another member on another thread ... maybe 18 months ago? Mine had alphas, his had baton; mine had one lume insert, his another ... we discussed them at length and ended up at the point both were correct.
