Hi, I just bought a 269 movement in order to restore. The classification is 30T2. What case number do you advise to use? I am looking at a 2180/1. Best Regards
You could do a caliber search on the Omega vintage database. Alternatively search for watches being offered for sale with this caliber. On a personal note I see no sense in restoring it as it look in your picture. The dial is not good. The caliber is very common. As a parts donor for an otherwise OK watch, with a damaged movement it will do . As for restoration you are looking at a very long and winding road ahead trying to get it done. It will not pay of in value, even if you had the parts for free.
Thanks for your help. I am not looking for resell value. Just want to start to made my hand at restoration. The fact the caliber is commum is a good thing for me, it mean's i can find parts easilly. My bro can help me ( he works in watch making ). And a Friend of mine is a peinter of miniaturists (i know this is scandalous for purists, but i want her to customize my dial). I will post my restoration steps soon (i hope i will not be crusified). Regards
You can find the reference numbers for a 269 here http://naligazone.com/index.php/data-watch/omega/13-watch/omega/32-caliber-2
Stupid question: Does all 30T2 family is strictly identical in terms of dimensions? In an other way: Can we put a 269 movement in a case originaly containing an other number caliber of the 30T2 family?
I think so, they are all listed together here http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&&2uswk&Omega_30_2
There is a remark on this page that makes me wonder: Remarks 1939-1963, 3000000 (whole family except 269,286) Breguet hairspring from 1943 Incabloc
