Hi all I am new to the forum. I started off looking for a birthday watch and I cannot find or afford a 165.024, Military Big Triangle which I really sums up my idea watch. However I came across something more achievable an 2254.50 and some are currently available on Ebay and yesterday I spotted one in local in town.
I had a quick look but the shop owner was out, but asked for the s/n to aid my research, which is in the 576XXXXX range which I think could mean it from 1998 and I think this model was in production 1996-2010.
I have studied a couple of examples on Ebay but are a lot newer between 2000 to 2004 and just wondering what a sensible price would be if it is from 1998.
The shop as it up for £1595 ($1920) at current exchange rates. I have not asked about the obvious yet (box, papers, service history etc) but it looks good with new obvious damage or wear.
Any other advise or questions I need to ask would be very helpful.

Nice watch indeed. At that price range I’d be looking for a full set and a watch close to pristine condition. But of course, that would be me.

Here’s mine couple of weeks ago while getting ready to jump on a water jet ski.

Let us know how it goes... and if you have any, post pics too!

    :)

Great watch, I loved mine. See my profile picture. Can't remember where I found this photo but it's the 2254.50 on an aqua terra bracelet which is a nice look.
For a 2254.50 I do not know the differences between the years of production. I don't think there are really any notable changes between the newer and older ones besides the age, just check service history. Prices for poor condition are around $1600 USD, full kit with mint condition low 2's. I would aim for a minty one with the speedmaster (rather than the bond style) bracelet and shoot for 1800-1900s. Who cares about B&P, Omega boxes from this era disintegrate when you look at them anyway even if you simply have them stored in your closet. Pick up an Omega mesh for a few hundred bucks and you will be very happy for years to come swapping the bracelet out. Amazing watch for the money, there is so much to love. BTW there are different case sizes. Get the 42mm. The easy way to tell if it is the normal 42mm watch is that you will see a lume marker at 3. The smaller case sizes do not have lume at 3.

    Fantastic watch. Go for it!
Got mine from a friend several years ago for
2500 to include full service, which ran about 550

No box or papers or extra links, etc- just the watch.

If I had to have just one, this would be it.

Yup! It is the aqua terra bracelet from the 2503 aqua terras. Here it is on my 2503.33.00.

These are great watches that I'm sure will continue to increase in value - just like the blue bond version.

Good look with your search. You should note that these are often up for sale in the sales forums here. @Kringkily has these for sale quite often.

Great watch My first serious watch was a 2254 from 2007 I bought it as a 1 year old box, paperback, the lot, for £895 in 2008. Still got it, just about to get it serviced for the first time! Look for the Speedmaster bracelet rather than the Bond one but it looks good on a NATO rubber or mesh. Good hunting

There are 2 case sizes available. The mid size case (which is the size that Prince William wears as a gift from his late mother) and the full size 42mm (or is it 41mm???) Most people go for the full size as it is a thin watch and sits well on the wrist.

No problem. The 41mm one, 2254.50, has been on my must-have list for a while now. I've missed some great used examples for sale here and also had the chance to get it new a few times about 10 years ago... other expenses at the time. ::facepalm2:: Still can't wait to add this sword hand model to the lineup though.
