I posted earlier a recent acquisition of a Speedy 105.003-65. It arrived with a 1035 bracelet with 19mm 506 ends, presumably original. The bracelet looks great and compliments the watch nicely, and is quite comfortable to wear. It is snug when slipping over my hand, but if I loosen the clasp setting it will constantly drop to my hand. My real question is this: would you retire the original bracelet to a safe place, considering the cost and difficulty of sourcing another of the same vintage and style? Secondly, what bracelet would you fit to it? I don't know if there are contemporary Omega bracelets with 19mm ends...I already have a Speedy on a NATO (and a selection of straps should I decide to go that way). Thanks in advance for the advice!
I only wear my vintage speedies on their original bracelets. I think it gives them a great look, and while perhaps "chinsy" in comparison to modern bracelets, it absolutely looks great and period-correct to the original bracelets. As for "risk", I think that the risk of wearing a vintage Speedy on its original bracelet is consistent with wearing a vintage Speedy on ANY strap or bracelet. So go for it!!
Hi Bryan Wear it as God intended....on the bracelet ! Having said that , I do like mine on those braided tropical straps....super comfortable & cheap too. Best - Neil
