Advice sought: Omega 321 18ct dress chronograph

Good day,
Before purchasing an Omega dress chronograph cal. 321, 18 ct gold, I figured it made sense to seek advice from an impartial source, so registered for the Omegaforums.
I would really appreciate any advice on what to look out for, common "layman's" mistakes, model numbers, price indocations etc.

Also, as an aside, I check on Chat GPT what info is available on the model number 2644 as a chronograph, but it came back stating that the 2644 was never produced as a chronograph. Is this true?

Any feedback would be very much appreciated!

As seen some days before AI is not a good help for vintage watch buyers...

Do you want to buy something like this?

2644 would be a dress watch with a bumper movement

As said post pictures or anything you have...

You might also consider the Omega 320 chronograph in 18k gold, like this one. Generally a bit lower in price than the 321, but condition is really the big factor with both as the spring back is more likely to allow to moisture damage to both the dial and the movement.

Thanks for the tip but I'm not too keen on the "two big eyes".

Below is the preferred watch. Can anybody get me some basic info like model etc. and let me know if there are any specific issues with the watch in general

Reference number is 2466 as it seems (not 2644)

I'm not familiar with this one so wait for more feedback...

Will be difficult to check the dial with this poor picture (many redials around)

Good luck

As mentioned above - this style of pusher affords virtually no water (or dust) resistance- hence why so many chronographs of this era and style have been repainted.

Any dealer who cannot produce excellent, well focused, and also hirez pictures of what they have for sale in this day and age is suspect.

I received further pictures, also from the (321) mechanism and the back lid of the case. I noticed different serial numbers:
Mechanism: 1207(?)6095
Case: 11002165
1. Should the serial number be the same on both
2. Is this a red flag or can there be a legitimate reason for it.

I'm not looking to buy a watch as an investment, neither am I a collector - I only want a watch to enjoy as a beautiful timepiece - but don't want to buy a dud either...

That is pretty common, only recently do case and movement serial numbers match on Omegas, they never even tried (or had the same number of digits!) before then.

Dial high-res pics? Remember, an original dial is almost half (if not more) of the price of a vintage reference.

Big red flags if after two tries you cannot get well focused, non-overexposed, up-close hires pix in natural light of the watch in question.

Especially the dial.
