    Good Afteroon All,
Been bitten by the Omega bug and have been hankering after a 50's model Seamaster.
Particulalry taken with the two tone face and have been offered the attached model which has been
fairly heavily restored (the seller was very open about this) but contains all original parts and the face has been re-painted. The model is a CK2657 and houses a 342 caliber serial number 10974377.
It is referred to as a 30.10.RA caliber all steel (no idea what this means).
It is currently priced at £1850 which is expensive but I would pay for the right watch. Seller seems very genuine, has a watch repair shop in London and can't find anything negative about him online. Just wondered if anyone could cast an eye over and let me know what they think. Having read so many warnings about Frankinwatches I almost beyond making any purchase with a modicum of confidence!
    Any help appreciated

As redials go that is an attractive one. Having said that once a watch is redialed it loses most if not all of its collector value. The price being asked is I think about 3 times what I would be wanting to pay for it (if I were in the market for a redialed 342)

I´d be more inclined to enquire about what looks to be a waffle dialed Seamaster sitting next to it in the watch box.

    Fixed the title.

Sure is. If they had only put the SWISS and MADE closer together and under the 6:00 marker.....

Thanks for the feedback, presume a "redial" is the same as him telling me that the face has been re-painted? does that mean it is a genuine face that has been re-furbished? The watch next to it is pictured below, it is a bumper 354 cica 1953 and asking £1250, all original apparently. Not actually my cup of tea but interested to know if it is valued about right, allowing for a bit of London Weighting :)

Those prices are completely bonkers. The second one is the nicer of the two, but stick around here and look at the sales forum (and be prepared to move fast) and you'll strike a much better deal.

Totally agree about the prices! Again about triple what I´d even consider paying!

I agree with the guys -Very expensive for a refurbished watch
    daylight robbery -not London weighting!

there are a couple of nice Seamasters in the OF sales section at a fraction of the cost
not exactly the same but certainly preferable for the collector

Yes, a redial means the dial has been repainted. While it probably is the original slab of metal that came with the watch, ALL the value is in the paint being original.

..... and I have 3 words for those prices: In Fucking Sane.  ::screwloose:: (translation from Noo Joizey to English: Those asking prices are mighty high mate.)

I'd say it's more like cement shoes.

Must either be on New Bond Street or one of the shops near Portobello, where as we Yankees like to say..."they see you coming."

I think it's safe to say anything this dealer is selling is going to be marked up quite high. Best to look elsewhere. Patience is your friend in this hobby.

    Good luck! :)

One of the things I love most about watch collecting is that it is a long game in which patience can truly pay off.

Plus, you'll see things you like now and quite possibly your tastes will change as you see and learn more. Better to take your time.

I'd go a bit higher given it's condition and it being (hopefully) recently serviced. I'd say a n00b would do well to get that for anywhere under $700 / £450 / €635.

You are making an assumption not in evidence, counselor. That is, that the watch was properly serviced. We've all seen what happens with "serviced" watches.

IMO, he'd be better off buying Mike's and paying for the service. Which should put him at the same level as your suggestion.
