Thinking about pulling the trigger on this one. Decent condition Ed White with older dauphine hands. What would you pay???

If it is a 105.003, it has the wrong hands. Should be batons. Early 105.002s were the last to have Alpha hands. Are you sure this is not a 002?

    Assuming it is a 003.
Lume on the dial looks like it was scraped off.
Chrono pushers look like later ones.
Center second hands look a little too white compared to the subdial hands.
    Bezel looks tire but fine.
    Hands are wrong.

What would i pay just based on that picture? The sum of the parts i could see, which is about $2500 on a good day.

Edit: Added, the price i put above is based on just the sum of what i would pay for the parts i could see, dial, hands, bezel, bits of a case, pushers and crown :)

Not to pile on, but crown is incorrect as well. Should be 24 tooth, looks like a 32.

Wow. Before the price is driven down to less than zero, let me add that the seller is Achim, a member and moderator of OF @watchyouwant and I'm sure he will here shortly to discuss this watch.

I believe this is a very early 105.003-63 with the rare early High Swiss dial. No Ts, very hard to find. I believe he is also offering white baton hands as well.

I have dealt with Achim on numerous deals, thru EBay and OF, and all experiences have been nothing but a pleasure.

It's always helpful to post the EB link when asking for advice on an EB watch.

$2500 is low of course. Even as parts, you won't get a working speedy 321 for that... a seamaster, maybe. This watch comes with some question marks, but it's still a straight lug, premoon speedmaster. They're not getting cheaper.

Definitely learn much before you pull the trigger on one though.

So what should one expect to pay for a reasonably correct 105.003? Can anyone point me to a nice one that is for sale?

That's a different watch (obviously). Depends on what you're looking for.

Take a breath, read up more. You'll start to zero in on what turns your crank.

I'm interested in a correct and not chopped up 321. Straight lugs or later is fine, I just want some accuracy and decent eye appeal.

    Keep hunting.

The 145.012-67 has a replacement bezel, maybe a replacement chrono hand, a stretched bracelet that wouldn't appeal to anyone's eye. The lume is scraped off the dial. The blank warranty card is less than worthless, it's a sham. Seller simply bought a blank card on Ebay from that era and married it to the watch.

You should study speedmaster101.com. The best investment of all, prior to your first Speedmaster purchase, is to buy a copy of Moonwatch Only.

It will save you thousands of dollars worth of mistakes.
Unfortunately, MWO + OmegaForum can lead to serious addiction issues and tens of thousands of dollars in watch purchases.

I'm pretty sure threads like this also have given me trust issues in my life. That being said, I still do yearn for a copy of moon watch only quite badly.

I've read this before, and have no doubt it's accurate, but here's what puzzles me: I have a 105.003 with the same Alpha hands (will post a pic when I can find it). I took it to a radiologist at a local hospital, who confirmed the hands are not Radium. We have to assume that most or all of the Alpha hands would be Radium, given their date of use, and when the Swiss watch industry changed to Tritium. The obvious answer is, they were re-lumed. But, the luminous is a really good match for the markers, and as I said, none of it Radium. So, either a master lume restorer, or perhaps a few Alpha hands at the bottom of the parts bin post-1963, that were used anyway?
