Hi OF, Are honeycomb dials desirable? For some reason I am drawn to them. Below are three watches I really likely. I prefer the applied numerals look. But always wary of redials. Please feel free to lean in with your observations. Option A: Ref 2640-8 SC cal 283 The gold applied numerals look amazing to me I’m a bad judge of patina so please let me know what you all think. Option B: Ref 2503-4 .. cal 266 Nice sub dial .. comes with original buckle as well. Option C: Ref 2503-18 .. cal 266 A mix of applied numerals and sub dial. The dial looks in good condition but could it be re dialed?
Honeycomb dials are quite popular. I like all three. I don't see any red flag, Im not an expert though.
Yes they are! But they are hard to find.. Option A and C look redialed, B could be good. The typo looks slightly off to me on A. Also the second hand is broken: it should continue after the center of the watch, it acts as a counterbalance. On C, typo is off (letters not even aligned), "swiss made" looks odd, and the minute markers are not all pointing to the center. On B, the "G" of Omega looks a bit weird but it could only be because of the angle. So that one could worth it
I was afraid the "G" was not rounded enough but I found some good examples here of textured dial with this "straight" G, especially on the Seamasters from the same era. Plus it looks crisp, so for me it is OK
