    Hi all,

Need your advice. Saw this speedmaster locally and want to know what you think of it.

According to the owner, it's meant to be from 1972. It has a stepped dial, the case is unpolished and the back has the hippocampus on it - which is all great news.

I couldnt get to see the inside and I didn't want to insist yet before getting your take on it. Am I right in thinking the bezel is a replacement? Am I missing anything else?

The seller wants £2200. What do you guys think?

Need more pics.. Dial, case and hands seem ok, though case is polished.

What's the movement number? What's the case reference (on the inside of the caseback)? What sort of inscription is on the back? Is the crown original? I'd guess maybe a -69, but need more pics.

The back is the hippocampus (only) caseback - so no writing at all just the logo. I stupidly forgot the take a pic. I've added the only other pic I took (again sorry for the crappy photo).

The owner didn't have the serial number and didn't have the caseback tool to open it.

I'm surprised the case has been polished, it looked nice and beefy in person.

Well, not enough pics to tell much... edges look rounded to me though, but more pics would help.

Can it be a 1972 with a hippocampus? I think they rushed the straight writing models out by the end of '69 and finished off the plain backs in '71 so if it is 1972 then I would expect something other than just the seahorse.
