I would like to get your advice on this Omega Constellation 18k solid gold. I Think its 168.018 but i need to open the case to know this for sure. What worries me is the slightly misaligment of the star "wonky star". What do you guys think about this? Thanks!
Well its a vintage watch and its normal with some marks on the dial. I dont worry much about that... Its the star i am abit comfused about
Wonky-starred Connies should have their own thread There's many many of them around with perfectly legit dials Yours is one of them
My point is that it isn't an issue at all. Is it your watch or one you're contemplating a purchase of?
Ah ! I agree If the watch isn't yours - the softened case condition and marks means you shouldn't pay top dollar for the watch Is it a target ? If so - how much?
It became mine recently but i have not payed for it yet. I won it on a auction for 1400 $.. i just examined the photos closer and noticed the star is slightly misalinged. I think 1400$ is ok price, they dont come up for sale so often so its hard to tell what a good price is. I wanted to get a piepan 18k gold one but they are to pricy...
I'd say that sounds about right. I don't know the rest of the condition it's in, but you've probably not made a huge mistake
Here is a photo of the back! I think the case needs abit cleaning, should not be to hard to do with a simple wetwipe.
I think the dial is within specs. Dirty cases on watches like this can be a good sign that the case has not been polished. My guess is that you'll be surprised how nice this watch will be with a gentle exterior cleaning. Some of the "scratches" on the back might just be surface dirt. Let's see the after pictures. gatorcpa
It all looks pretty nice to me but be EXTREMELY careful if you decide to open the case as 18K gold scratches very easily. Unless you are skilled and experienced at this sort of thing, it is best to leave that to a watchmaker.
Thanks for all the answers! How many grams of gold are in these 18k gold connies? Its something i cant find out anywhere, i googled it and nothint came up. Maybe someone here have an idea?
this from a thread for a different watch -but can't imagine a bumper has a significant weight difference to a later rotary automatic hope that helps
I'm assuming that this is to convert 18k into gold value for bullion price - although I think there probably scrap values for 9/10/14/18k etc on the net in which case it would be just the weight of the case (watch minus movement and crystal) without using an adjustment factor
Scrap value is going to be 10% to 30% less than spot price. You won't find a standard price for this. Depends on to whom you sell. Scrappers have to eat too. gatorcpa
Ofcourse i would never scrap a omega gold watch. I just wanted to know the weight of gold in these watches, the prices on them are depended on gold price aswell so its good to know how much gold its in it.
