Cheers guys - still new to Speedmaster, and trying to work out what the differences are between a £1500 watch and £5000 watch!!!

I've had a look at the vendor I got mine from, and it seems asking prices are higher than a few months ago. I can only imagine it's "the time of year". Keep your eyes peeled for an auction rather than a BIN, and look at the sales board on here too (granted most of those are US based).

I'm looking for something like this one.

I prefer the hands and bracelet to the one I posted above, but its the differences like this that I am struggling with.

Are these two different models? Are these types of bracelets options when buying new?

Hi Nick. Welcome. Do you have particular thoughts about what you want? The collectible ones are the earlier models. you can find one of those, but you may sacrifice in condition for the "real" moon watches. however, condition is relative. I personally like the character that comes with age and use. If you watch our sales forum you can begin to see some of what I mean. good luck on the hunt. Bill

    Hi Bill,
The link in my last post is pretty much what I am looking for, that style of hands and bracelet and in good used condition
I'm not looking for a more expensive collectible, just a nice honest Speedmaster Pro.

Is the difference between the two links I have posted a difference in model, or is it the year the watch was produced, I'll get there, but the more I look, the more questions I have! :)

Nick. I am not that familiar with the later models. They will all have the 1861 movement and maybe some of the hands will be different with different years. It's a fine watch either way, it's just why makes you smile :). Here is a website of some examples for sale that may let you compare the newer watches. http://www.lunaroyster.com/watches?category=Speedmaster Moon Watches The tried and true seller here is Kringkily. As i said, watch the sales forum and i think you may be better off. Except of course for import into GB. I understand that you have to watch the costs of that if you buy outside the EU. Bill

Thanks Bill - I think I need to do plenty of research, and not do one of my usual impulse purchases. I appreciate the advice.
