This nice ck2915-3 was offered to me today.
I only got a couple of pics yet.
The sellers says it is in all original condition; unfortunately there are no box or papers included.

I am looking for a ck2915 for quite a while now but I am not sure how much I should offer.

What do you think about its condition ?

I'm sure you know more than I do, but as I see it -- who cares! Buy it!

Now seriously, case looks a bit tired, but that's to be expected, and is forgivable. Hour and minute hands look correct and show a nice colour. I thought the chrono and subdial hands should be silver or at least not white. Service replacements? Awesome bezel. Dial is lovely, and I think the correct 'flat' or domed dial. Are those minute subdial markers too long? I would want to see the dial up close if there's a way.

Do you know the serial? I'm sure there's some controversy over what is correct but would be cool to know.

Is it too early to call dibs?!

I see a hooked 7 instead of flat 7 on the bezel, don't know enough to say whether that is correct.

Isn't the flat 7 on the modern replacement (which is not DON)?

Shouldn't the dial have the short sub dial markers?

pic of the dial with the hands in a different position?

If it's of any relevance to this thread, the reproduction 2915 bezels offered for sale on ebay back in June, which were described as identical to the originals, have hooked 7's.

I am pretty sure everything is replaced, with the exception of the case, which appears heavily corroded.

If it's asking more than $8000 I would like to hear why

Even for experienced straight lug Speedie collectors, navigating the 2915 waters is wrought with peril. Too many issues. This is certainly where the "buy the seller" theory holds true.

Even the hands are modern !
I think the seller found a 2915-3 caseback and tried to "build" a 2915...

Not for the first time on here, I don't know what to believe.
This assessment has gone from ok, buy it to, everything is replaced, with everything in between.
I don't know enough myself but am beggiining to think I'm not alone in that.
On the Vintage Rolex Forum if you knock a watch for originality, you MUST show why you are doing so with comparisons and/or theories.
I think that rule might not be a bad thing here, it would sort out the wheat from the chaff.

In the end Marcello usually came along and cleared it all up anyway!
    We just need another Marcello.

    Just my 2c

The only person who even suggested buying it was oddboy and he was probably just a bit excited about it.

The trouble with 2915s is that the majority of them for sale are frankens or fakes, the number of genuine ones compared to junk on this reference is extremely low due in part due to the Omega 3594.50 which made it easier to put together a less sophisticated attempt at a 2915, and recently due to the prevalence of counterfeit 2915 parts (bezels, endlinks, hands etc) which outnumber genuine by a significant margin.

This is why even some of the most dedicated 321 Speedmaster nuts like @MSNWatch and I believe @Spacefruit and @Barking mad don't own a 2915, you can find a Paul Newman Daytona any day of the week, people think they're rare but by comparison they're very common and there are a hundred or more for sale every year, but you'd be lucky to find more than a couple of completely original 2915s if that.

I'm not sure what you're reading, but almost every single person who took the time out of their day to try and help the OP by replying here, either questioned some of the parts or said out-right that it was wrong.

To request that people prove what they're saying beyond all doubt is poor form imo. After all, this forum is a hobby for most, which encourages discussion and not a watertight valuation dept.

It might be worth investing in MWO so you know yourself exactly what is correct and what isn't.
