hi everyone.
i have had my eyes on this omega seamaster calendar for a while now but i am uncertain whether the dial is original so any thoughts on that would be hugely appreciated.
its an auction so the price is not given, but how high would be reasonable?
the seller claims that the reason the dial is a but unclear is do to a lot of scratches in the crystal.
any thoughts are very appreciated.

For me, the photos are too poor to bid on.
I’m suspicious about the integrity of the the photos and, although I may be wrong, would be anxious that they’ve been edited to minimise patina and damage. If I were to get really paranoid, I’d probably suspect that it’s a poor redial which is why the photos are so poor.
And, to go on, why leave it on an old Seiko bracelet.

Dial is original, but there is definitely patina. I suspect the patina is light, with the exception of the lume which has darkened, but it’s a gamble of course so consider that in your bid. Case is nice though.

If you look carefully at the three dial photos, two of which are from slightly different angles, the parts of the script which are obliterated are the same in each. If it was due to crystal scratches the obliteration would be in different positions and mask diffent parts of the script?

Well, if @seekingseaquest says the dial is original, that would satisfy me as to originality.
I still wouldn’t bid though😀

If that dial is in good shape it would easily fetch eur 850 on the open market. Maybe even a bit more. If it's in ok-ish shape you're looking at app eur 450-600. So for me my max bid would be somewhere around the eur 500. Generic plexi or polish is eur 15 (genuine omega plexi around eur 75). Service is eur 225 (depending on location).

Edit: looking at the (blurry) pictures I think the dial is in ok-ish country.

Yeah. Prices of omega has risen. It's getting harder to find the good deals.

What does the seller say about the timekeeping and the powerreserve? I assume the service history is unknown.

By the way, even if its keeping good time with a good powerreserve it does'nt mean the watch is'nt in need of a service. So if the service history is unknown, count in the costs of a service.

the seller does not know very much, the only thing he knows is that it works and is a bit sluggish, so movement might not be in the best condition but its quite difficult to say, but i am willing to take a shot.

+1 on original dial. Heads-up, it looks like it is patinated beneath the scratched crystal.

The case looks good with nice sharp edges and I agree with what the rest have said regarding the dial. The band adds nothing to the package. For me a €350-450 watch due to it having a full service needed in the not so distant future.
