    Hey guys,

I'm currently looking for my first Omega. I'd like a nice vintage piece with history with a simple design. I feel lucky to have found this place as it is full of information and people willing to help. Thanks for all the great resources! (And the pretty pictures of all the Omegas!)

I was looking at eBay listings and came across this Genève. As I'm completely new to this world I don't know too much about Omega watches. I would appreciate it a lot if any of you experienced users would look at this watch and tell me if you see anything off, a redial, different hands or crown etc.

I did some basic research myself and it looks promising to me.

The serial number (26724116) indicates that it's from 1968 (Thanks, Google). This corresponds to the creation year of 1966 of the 613 calibre (Thanks Gatorcpa!). The 613 calibre seems appropriate to be inside a Genève. The bracelet seems to be an 1168 (Thanks uwsearch) which seems to fit the Genève. Hands, dial and crown seem to me to be original, but I'm not too sure about that.

Item is listed for 380usd. Fair price?

    Any help is very appreciated!

Looks like a decent watch at a decent price. Take into account the cost of servicing the movement.

    With a 1168 bracelet thrown in, that's a steal.

    Looks like it's from elady?

Reasonable watch and a very good price with the bracelet as well. Not a bad buy at all.

It's not from elady. It's from an apparently big seller from Japan. I picked a seller with good reputation

I thought exactly the same, even though I'm not that experienced. Looks like a steal. Thanks for the feedback guys!

I agree with all the above. I have a geneve with a 613 movement and think it's a terrific watch and generally underrated.......but in the rather poor photos above, if my eyes don't deceive me, the case back seems to be from a seamaster.

    Still, nice looking watch

I did read that a case back with ref. 136.011 is indeed from a Seamaster and not a Genève. Forgot to mention it in my original post.
I wouldn't consider that to be a dealbreaker myself though.

I did find this after looking into it more now: https://www.poshtime.com/500.039/Omega-Geneve-Seamaster-136.011-c.1967.php
Would a Genève Seamaster be possible when they were transitioning?

I'm not sure if it applies this this model, but Seamaster case backs can be correct in some Geneve's.

613 is a good movement. I think it's generally easy to find parts.

Your imagination I think. I can't spot a difference between the pictures with the crown in it.

I read they used Seamaster and Genève together after they moved their production away from Genève until it was fully transitioned to Seamaster and DeVille. No idea if this is correct, but it might explain the cross use of both and the Seamaster case back.

the Geneve should be a 136.012? Not uncommon for them to have Seamaster casebacks.

That is correct. This is a later one with a plain back but they also turn up with Seamaster backs and identical to SM De Villes except for the dial. Nothing wrong with "yours" IMO.

It is not unusual to assume that the seamster caseback will be original to this geneve? Not convinced still....
