9004E467-52C5-4802-8A52-122C8C3796DC.jpeg Hi all, I am on vacation and came across a bulova accutron spaceview that is in excellent physical condition, but it is not working. The seller says it did work, but stopped and he never got around to repairing it. I didn’t take a photo ::facepalm1:: but it is similar to the one pictured. I held off because I don’t know how easy it is to source parts or find someone to repair them (Vancouver, BC). Seller is asking $100 Canadian, would repair for the unknown issue be a huge problem and expense ? Thanks in advance for your help, I can go back tomorrow to seal the deal if it makes sense

I'm pretty sure that $100 even for a non-running spaceview is a great deal. Now how much the service will cost - no idea.

For C$100 (US$75) take a chance. They can be repaired, there are people who can get it back into operating condition..

Careful. Some of these are NOT original Space Views. How do I know? My earliest NOOB error. Stopped working about 6 months after I bought it. Radio silence from the guy I bought it from. There are site where you can check the specifics of the watch against the genuine SN list. Mine was a conversion and not cheap. This looks very familiar.

Agree with everyone, take a shot and get it!

I will also add a good friend of mine works on these. He has picked up more than a half dozen that were described as 'not working'. All they needed was a correct battery replacement.

    Best of luck!

Thx, do you recall if your serial number a fake one or a reused real one?

IIRC, it's unlikely you'd ever find an outright fake (really hard to clone a 214 movement) but what you often see is 214 watches with the dials removed and called "Spaceview" vs a 214 that left the factory as a Spaceview

That is what I meant. 214 that was converted. Also try this thing on as well. My watch simply didn’t work on my wrist. My wife on the other hand loves the thing but I wont drop anymore cash on its repair.

That's definitely cheap enough to take a chance for cool watch.
