    Hello,

since months i'm in search of a vintage 145.022 in my area

I found this st71 this morning and wondered if there's any things to check about this one (see photos)

It comes without original papers. No case back photo for the moment.

Do you think i could pull the trigger on this one ?

    Many thanks for your advices

    Jerome

The first thing that strikes me is that the bezel is wrong. It is a newer service bezel. It is possible to find a matching one, but it costs you probably around 500€. To judge if the movement suits the watch, it would be helpful to know the first digits of the serial number.
Personally, I do not particularly like the greenish lume.
Some more photos would be helpful. Do you know the website speedmaster101.com? There you will find a lot of informations about speedmasters. Compare the 145022-71 on that site with yours...

I just asked for other photos with more precision about the serial number. This photo is too blurry ...

Movement Number seems to start with 328...

If you enter the serial number at ilovemyspeedmaster.com you can find out, if it matches the rest of the watch. It does.

The Bezel should have the Dot beside the 70, not on the bottom. Also the 7 should have longer serifs and TACHYMETRE is written without accent.

    Look at my 145022-71

Maybe you have photos that show the profile of the watch.

    Kind regards, Frank

The seller sent me the same photo with the blurry serial number. But i'm quite sure it's 32840282

I don't know if the rest is original.

    Price asked is 4.5k€ ...

should i propose 4k if i tell him the bezel isn't an original ?

I think you should wait for more comments, as I‘m really no expert like others here. And you need more photos, at least to see the sides. Most watches have got new pushers and crown, but in my opinion that‘s ok, because to wear it, you need a sealed watch in proper working order. The bridge on this photo should normally be of a golden colour, I guess. But I‘m not quite sure about it. 16D5EFD0-08D5-4A30-9E07-AFB4CEEF67A7.jpeg

Seems there is no bracelet, box, papers or any other ad on. It's head only, condition is "running"* not "good" as for the missing bezel. Value from 101 should be at $ 3.600,00 in € 3.200,00.

    * Running – Probably needing a service, but almost all parts present and correct for the reference. This is the most common category, be prepared to reduce from here for each incorrect part.

No bridge is OK, as well as the golden wheels and metal brake. Movement seems all OK to me.

Imo, the greenish lume is found on later speedies from the early 80s

I have one with lime green lume, confirmed by EOTA for jan 1983

So has bezel and dial been replaced on the OP watch?

I think dial is original, don't know later service step dials. "T" and fonts seem right as well. Sometimes they are greenish, maybe depends on environmental influences.

The dial in the picture is by my definition correct for a -71, as it has the correct S and R and it also has the needed step.

According to MWO this dial should be correct for a 71 (C1 Medium S - Step dial). I am not aware of any later service dials with a step.

Hesalit, crown and puhers are service parts, which is ok. The case is polished. As mentioned before, I‘m still a newbie and far away from being an expert. But in my opinion pricetag is too ambitious and I don‘t like the overall appearance of this watch too much.
