Hi OF,

Recently I came across with this vintage Longines and would like to seek for advice before I pull the trigger. Asking price is USD285. Would like to hear any thought from you all. One thing that concern me is the black stains on the dial - are they sign of water damage or so called patina?

Also, anyone can do me a favor to identify the model number and the history behind this piece

Have a good day!

Case looks like the "Everett" model. There is a 1951 advertisement showing this case, but with a different dial. When Longines offered a case style for multiple years, it sometimes changed the dial design over the production run.

A discolored dial doesn't necessarily mean water damage, it's just patina from age usually resulting breakdown of the protective lacquer. The gold-plated hands look corroded, but these movements with good hands can easily be found for a relatively low cost on eBay.

Movement looks clean, I see no obvious issues. If it's running and keeping time now, it should run great for years after being serviced.
