    Hi all!

I am considering the following prospective purchase:
ref. 168.016, cal. 751 on a black Hirsch strap with the serial number dating it to 1969.
The seller is offering it to me for $735 (577 pounds sterling)

My evaluation of it is as follows:

    Dial: Original
All fonts appear to be correct (MOY test may be just slightly off but not too concerning)
    Constellation star is correct
    Lume markers are correct
    Hands are correct
Hour markers and seconds track are correct
    Overall dial condition is good

    Crystal: Some scratches
Seller says it is original but cant confirm from the pictures

    Crown: Good condition
Don't know if it is original for this model?

Case: Looks unpolished and sharp. The original brushed finish on the flat regions of the bezel and lugs and
on the case sides are evident. The bevelled edges on the bezel, case edges and lugs and lugs are
    well-defined.

    Case-back: The medallion is sharp
Scratches on the case-back around the medallion.
    Any polishing?

Inside-case-back: OK. No perlaging is that OK?

    Movement: In good overall condition.
A little wear on the rotor edges.

    Any advice would be most welcome! IMG-20190607-WA0004.jpg IMG-20190607-WA0003.jpg IMG-20190607-WA0002.jpg IMG-20190607-WA0007.jpg IMG-20190607-WA0006.jpg IMG-20190607-WA0005.jpg

    Excellent post

Lots of pictures, detailed informations including price

Plain to see that you really tried to evaltuate the watch yourself

Watch looks very good IMO, price seems reasonable but I'm not very familiar with this reference

    Calling @Peemacgee :)

I’ll echo what @Passover said - good, well considered post.

This reference is a bit late for me but it all looks very good.
The dial looks good, the case is excellent.

The lack of perlage is fine in these references.

Here is a thread I found from a couple of years back which may be of some interest to you.

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-constellation-168-016.36378/

I still don’t think these watches have met their mark yet but they are increasing in price - so I think £577 is a pretty good price IMHO.

It is slightly odd that there are signs of rotor rub on the rotor but no (or very little) signs of it on the case back.
Either way, it would be a buy from me - if there is no proof of competent servicing just make sure you have it serviced.
