Boom...

must have cleared Customs, it's on the move again.

Question (@Dan S )... how/when/where do I get billed for the duties owed?

Does FedEx already have your credit card on file perchance?

Not that I would know of... I don't have a shipping account with them but I have used their various stores for shipping/returns.

One of two ways you'll get billed. 1. Pay before FedEx continues its movement within their system, or 2. You'll get billed after delivery.

It seems to be moving (the huge red exclamation point on the FedEx app disappeared and the app is showing green colors... and of course Green means Go) so I am guessing a bill is forthcoming.
Any chance that the manufacturer eats the cost (doubting it but just spitballing here) since they were CC'd on all this as well?

Well, they may bill you ... or they may not.
I like that 2nd option but I'm doubting it.

It's possible that the sender's parameters with US customs is all duties are backcharged to them. I've bought two watches from Europe where this was the case and I never knew what the customs duties were, I was not involved in that side of things. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

It’s gonna cost what it costs to whomever gets the bill. Dan had a thread on this not long ago. It’s one of those suck it up and bend over- they may use lube, maybe not

I'm married, accustomed to bending over often.

What's lube?

I have a watch I accidentally purchased from Columbia.
Last night when I checked the shipment was on hold in panama city.
Now it says it is in Florida.

I have yet to deal with customs as no one in the EU or Australia has bothered to bid on my scraps. When I did send over seas I was in the Silicon Valley and most people were sending packages international. Here in town the post office is next to a National Park (well a national monument run by the park service.) Come to think of it I have exported pipe organ parts intentionally, with out issue.

Of course everything I do is of low value.

Receiver bares all duties.

What I assumed... just very curious how and when I'll know.
Be cool if the FedEx driver took payment via CC but I doubt that.

No, they accept only Dogecoin at the point of sale. 😁 And S&H Green stamps.

If so, I'm gonna be shit outta luck on the doggiecoin but I do have a rather large collection of S&H booklets, all filled to bursting, from my mom!

Usually the last depot it’s at before postage asks for a duty payment.
(This happens in Australia)

It's not true that the receiver automatically bears all duties, it depends on how the seller has arranged his agreement with his shipper/customs broker. I have bought two watches from a well known European seller here on OF and his sales policy is he pays any customs duties for watches shipped to the USA, he has an arrangement with his custom brokers in the US to calculate the duty due and charge it to his account. I never see any calculation of the duty, it's just backcharged to him. US Customs just wants to be paid, who is making the payment is of not much concern.

Watch has officially touched down in the US of A. Indianapolis to be exact... now just needs to head down to southern NM.

50 dollars this puppy ain't making it in time for Xmas even though they generated the label 10 days ago in Switzerland. Would have been so nice to have it wrapped and under the tree for me to open from The Wife -- even though she doesn't know I bought it as a gift from her to me.

Maybe a New Years gift from her to me?

I've got a new piece of audio gear coming from Chicago, got a notice from UPS this morning that it's delayed due to 'severe weather'. Cold, I suppose.

Touchdown doesn't mean it's cleared. Today is Friday before a national holiday, it will likely sit until next week before being processed and released. After a watch of mine was cleared in March it sat for five days before moving in the FedEx system due to severe traffic overload, was finally delivered seven days after clearance.

Your watch may be a New Years gift! Or you may have your own 'immaculate reception' and get it tomorrow.

Still stuck in Indianapolis (shoulda kept my mouth shut about the Cyclone Chilly Bomb or whatever it's called in that other thread because I was just served up a nice fresh Eat Shit karma sandwich).
