I am mainly a vintage guy but there is one modern Speedmaster I always found attractive : the 35th Anniversary of Apollo-Soyuz LE from 2010.

Short before Sylvester, I’ve been informed by a buddy about a new old stock Apollo-Soyuz sitting in a local boutique of the Swatch Group. With no hesitation I went there and found a brand new full set that - according to what the sales guy told me - is the last NOS set in Swatch Group, it’s been travelling within their boutiques all around the world but has never sold. Finally, they decided to relocate it to Switzerland and try to sell it here.

Having the watch in my hands I couldn’t resist and we agreed on a sale. I should be able to pick it up next week. I’m really looking forward, that dial is stunning (pics made with my smartphone, the light was horrible - better ones to come soon !) So here’s the first incoming of 2019 ::psy::

And another quick shot with the -69er I was wearing that day :)

Very nice! Never really thought much about these, but it looks pretty dramatic next to your watch.

Does one anticipate an immediate service for a NOS item such as this?

    Thanks

I will have it checked by my watchmaker. If the oils have dried, I’ll have it serviced. ;)

Must not be a very popular watch if it took them 9 years to get that one sold...you asked for a discount?

The dial is stunning on that one. Congrats! Great way to start 2019.

    Looks great!
Is it a Rolex bracelet on your 69?

No, it’s the bracelet of the original Apollo-Soyuz LE from 1975, the 1168/633 ;)

That's great! Be careful with that oil check than. Make sure it doesn't void the warranty.

There was one of these in Weir & Sons in Dublin at the beginning of 2018. I was tempted but had just spent my budget. I wonder if it's the same one.

    :p

Edit : for this folks who don't live in CH/EU, the 'Sylvester' originally mentioned is 'New Years' (and its spelled 'Silvester').

Can’t you ask the OB or AD to service it given it’s production year? You cancel the warranty worries of having a non omega watchmaker open the case.

Got mine nos at AD in 2016, went in hoping to find something interesting but they only had a normal Speedmaster in the display cabinet.
Asked the sales woman if they had any more Speedies in stock and she immediately said no.
I asked if maybe she could check again, pretty please, so she went and had a look.
When she came back she said: nothing much but I found this, do you like it?
And there it was, the watch that I had seen on Fratello and the one that I was really hoping to find one day, the Meteorite.
So I think there are a few gems still out there and @kov certainly found one of them today.

Excellent find! I tried one on back in 2010, loved it but couldn’t quite afford it at the time, still have a soft spot for one, would be great to find a NOS
