[ADMIN] - COMPLETE! - Server Upgrades for additional storage

    Somehow we now have multiple terabytes of watch photos on our servers so we're going to need more storage, there may be a slight degradation in performance as we work to set up that migration process over coming days and then there will likely be some downtime, possibly as much as a day or two but hopefully less as we restore to our new storage cluster.

    Incidentally I checked what we were currently at and its 1,450 days of uptime... I think that might be a new record!

    Special thanks to the whole team and especially Steve who often steps in with the day to day moderation and always handles it in a fair and even handed way and Darren who does a tremendous job keep the FS section orderly, Trev and I have both lost a lot of our time to things going on outside the watch world and the team we have here really do hold the community together in a tremendous way.

    This is the best run forum of all time, I spend a lot of time on various forums and none can compare to OF.

    And yes I always wondered how you host all of our large images...most forums severely restrict file sizes. OF is the Rolls Royce of forums.

    In case you're curious we're going to a two tiered system:

    2x 8TB SATA drives in RAID 1 for bulk storage, of images 1x 1TB S3710 SSD for main OS and 750GB of image cache, so 99% of images should still be served off SSD, and on cache misses will be loaded off the big drives and cached. We don't want to ever limit images as a lot of what we do acts as an indefinite record of historical images of watches (This is also why we do NOT allow people to delete old FS listings and images). As we saw with the Photobucket debacle the third party image hosting sites are just too flakey to rely on which is why we also cache and re-serve any images embedded here.
