Hi, so some know and some don’t that we have a sister site, that has been running for many years at forums.Calibre11.com. This forum is dedicated to Heuer and TAG Heuer watches and has its own small community but shares a login with Omegaforums, so your account here works there and vice versa.

With the news that Calibre11 is sadly closing, we have worked with David to ensure the ongoing support of the forum under its new name, https://TagHeuerForums.com

The site will continue relatively unchanged with only the name being altered and the addition of a new moderator to aid @Hubert in a different time zone.

If you have an interest in Heuer or TAG Heuer, or even in cars which have a prominent dedicated section in THF, feel free to drop by and say hi to the guys there.

I still don't understand why David is deleting the site... that knowledge continues to be valuable even without updates. Sad times.

I know TAG have a lot of naysayers, but I still thoroughly enjoy my Aquaracer. It was my first automatic watch and intro to the hobby. I just happen to have put it on this morning.

I’ve always planned to research Heuer at some point and figured the Calibre 11 forum would be my starting point. Thanks to everyone involved with keeping it going.

TAG has been one of the great gateway drugs to the Swiss watch world, my first “good” watch was an ‘89 TAG Heuer F1 Chronograph with the fibreglass bezel (hand me down from my older brother when he got his Rolex) and that watch started the passion for me.

I think it’s sort of like Honda and motorcycles, every Harley or Ducati owner has throw his leg over a Honda at some point and 90s TAG Heuers have been on many a wrist.

Exactly, my first ‘good’ watch too, probably influenced by the F1 advertising during the Senna era. Still have a Targa Florio Fangio edition, not been worn lately I’m afraid.

I have a Tag stuck in my head that is bothering me. I did a significant amount of traveling last week and if I ran across antique places and had time I’d make a quick stop in. Only one shop had anything decent which was a ninety’s Tag but it had a very nice blue bezel. Gave it a very nice look. Looking around the place it definitely was not a junk store and they had very nice jewelry so I just kinda figured they would want too much for a used Tag. The owner was not even sure if it was quartz but the way it ticked and lack of “auto” on the dial made me think it probably was. Now I can’t stop thinking about that pretty bezel and I hope I can find the place again to do proper DD on it.

This is the one I had with blue bezel and it was brilliant. It was quartz but we’ll worth it and I’d buy another one in a heartbeat.

Yeah I didn’t mean to come off as anti-quartz I have a Tag aquaracer thats quartz that I like a lot. I would like a auto tag but If the one I’m referring to is quartz and reasonably priced I will definitely pick it up.

Another thing I notice about Tag when the younger guys at work ask me what type of watch I am wearing (doesn’t happen often) but if I answer Hamilton, omega or seiko they kinda say “oh cool” if I say Tag they get all interested so Tag had done well getting it’s name out there.

The only watch I was ever complimented on by someone at work was my Tag Carerra.

It wore like a brick and flopped around on my wrist, I rarely wore it in the 15 years I owned it. I’ve since given it to my closest friend who is smitten with it. But now I don’t have a Heuer. Hopefully an Autavia will be in my future…someday.

    @dsio Thanks for the update.

So this means that any links (in the renamed tagheuerforums.com) that point to Caliber11.com will not work starting March 01?

Or has the caliber11.com content been copied into the forum, (which I don't think it has)?

    Slightly confused (obviously)

    Thanks

    Boy, that’s new in-house H02 is a mess.
I like my Carrera Fragment just enough to put up with the shit show at TH.
I hope they turn this boat around.

    Just these two for me.

I enjoy the companies over at Caliber11. A good bunch of dudes there.
Honestly, the companies at C11 are more pleasant than the watches of TH.

Much the same for me. I bought this F1 on holiday in New York around 17 years ago, when Macy's were doing a special price for foreigners

My tastes have changed, but I still have the Tag. A dependable quartz, with possibly the best bracelet I've ever worn. Plenty of vintage Heuer's to admire.

This exactly. In the summer of 1990, I was one of those travellers accused in a recent OF thread of not knowing much about watches and buying a Tag Heuer at the Duty Free. It looked like a good Swiss watch to me and I gave not a toss it was quartz. It was $425 at LAX and although it was another 18 years before I bought my 2254.50, it really was my gateway piece. When I came back from my trip, a couple of my watch-loving pals were actually impressed with my choice as they knew all about Tag and Heuer. I was over the moon. How little I knew but damn I loved that watch. Still do.

I wore that Tag 1000 every day for nearly 20 years. Battery has been changed maybe twice in the 31.5 years I’ve owned it. The bracelet is badly stretched; it’s likely one inch longer than when new but I don’t care. It runs excellently but gets wrist time only on bike rides. I’ll never part with the old beast.

In 1990 that was the shit!! Still a timeless and beautiful watch, they nailed the 1000 series.

Dalton wore the Night Diver version as Bond in The Living Daylights!

Super cool then and now - anyone who says different is clearly an agent for SPECTRE. ;)
