I am thinking about adding a PO to he collection. I am looking at a few different models. The one thing I am concerned about is the extra thickness, which is the biggest drawback for me. I understand (from reading posts on this forum) that the PO 2500 is a bit thinner than the 8500. I currently have a couple 300Ms and ATs. Can anyone here tell me about the thickness of the PO 2500 compared to the 300M and AT? Thanks. Love this forum. I have learned great deal!
Jumping in I am curious about differences with the 2500 and 8500 mechanically I've been admiring the ceramic PO 42mm lately
Also, if I still had my PO8500 I'd post that too, but it was way thicker and I sold it. I did do another post about this, but to save you the headache of searching I added it below. 2500 vs 8500.
I just purchased my 42 2500C 2weeks ago, and I don't find it too thick in any way, and it fits well with a dress shirt as I wear it daily. Great piece!
Thank you to everyone for posting all this information. It is clear to me now that a 2500 PO in 42mm is what I will need. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
So I have been looking around. And I see there are two 42mm models I like: 2909.50 and 2209.50. I prefer it to come with the black strap with orange stitching, but if it comes with a different strap, I'm sure I can locate a black/orange one to put on it. However, I am trying to identify the difference between the 2909 and the 2209. Both seem to have the same specs on the Omega look-up site. Could it be that one has an earlier 2500 movement??
They are the exact same watch head, it's just that one came with a strap from the factory while another comes with a bracelet. Kind of like how the 3870 and 3570 were the same Speedy Pros, just one came with leather and the other metal. Hope this helped
@OmegaSean -- remember that you need to take your watch off long enough to let your skin cells breathe a little
2209.50 comes with bracelet, 2909 comes with orange leather strap. General speaking, people go for the bracelet and buy a strap as just the bracelet goes for $500
Here's a strap idea if you go with the 'orange number' version. This is an Omega NATO strap on a 42mm Cal.8500. This combination will likely NOT fit under the buttoned cuff of a dress shirt -- it certainly does not fit under any of my dress shirts. But I didn't get this watch for office wear, but rather, as a field watch. I got the NATO strap in order to wear the watch over my dry suit while SCUBA diving.
