Seagull is actually making some nice watches that are not homages. Below is a nice automatic pointer date I picked up new for about 335 USD.
That looks very interesting where did I pick it up if I can ask

I picked this up from the Seagull Canada website (seagullcanada.com). This was my first time ordering from them, and I was somewhat skeptical that it was going to both arrive and be real, but I took a flyer. I was really pleasantly surprised all around. I ordered it 11/8/2020 and if was delivered to me in New York on 11/24/2020. To my eyes, I am reasonably sure it is authentic. It's details all seem to match what I can find on the Chinese Seagull websites (seagullwatch.com and sea-gullmall.com). It also came with all of the appropriate paper work and tags. If you are considering ordering from them, all the prices (as least from a U.S. IP address) were in USD, the shipping was free, and they seem to also give you an additional $25 off in your cart automatically. I would not hesitate to deal from them again.

That is great I didn’t even know they made that model I’m in the US myself thanks for the info and the input. I like that look quite a bit.

There are a few Chinese independents too, that look very interesting. Tan Zenhua, Ling Yong Hua and Ming Guo are all members of the AHCI. Hope to get the chance to check them out when I next go back to China, unfortunately looks like it won’t be for a while. Doesn’t seen like they have websites, but a few photos of their work on the AHCI site and found this video

Cool interesting. My last time in China I visited my wife’s family places of work. I guess it was “bring the westerner” to work day something and what hit me was just seeing a bunch of of guys and girls running around stressing trying to get stuff done. They were real cool showing me machinery and science stuff they were doing. Only difference between what I often see at work here and what they were doing was the language. That’s kinda when it gets easier to drop the political stuff. Looked to me they were just trying to do what we do everyday, get through the day and feed the family. Sometimes it’s easier if you separate the people and the government. Two different things really. I’ve been visiting China many years and I’ve seen a lot of progress in the life of many ordinary Chinese humans life’s over the years I like to see that. I’m certainly no expert on the subject just a nice place to visit and I’m interested in their progress on watches.

Got to agree, people are people doesn't matter where they are from.
I enjoy looking thru the markets in China and watching very skilled people working at quite technical work in an open market situation with full well equipped shops.
With over a billion people in play and the usual bell graph distribution graph that applies to all things its not surprising to see great innovation by Chinese watch makers.

Solas used a Hangzhou 5000a microrotor movement in their inaugural offering

For $500, it was a pretty solid opening shot. I reviewed a model and would have bought one if there had been a white dial option.

Hi Connieseamaster, I just pulled the trigger on the no-date version in complete SS (they're offering rose gold coloured dial furniture in an SS case too now); could I trouble you for a link to the thread/page/channel of your review please? Thanks!
