How hard is it to source an age appropriate crown for these?

 

Extremely tough.
The truth is, the nato star crown has no intuitive indication that it is a Zenith. So many sellers may not even know what they have.

However the modern replacement is not that difficult to find. Just that the dimension is slightly different, lending a different look too.

The modern crown is slightly thicker and smaller in diameter.
