ok. . .how do i find one. did they used to be a lot more common. why is it that a3817s and a386s seem to pop up several a year but other than the one at philips in the chrono sale and a few old chronotrader listings i cannot find one of these anywhere!
Here is one Well two Only 1,000 of the A3818's were produced, some have speculated that the actual number was closer to 700. My understanding is that there were some issues with the blue galvanized dial flaking. So the number that have survived is very low probably around 500. The A386 on the other hand had a production run of 2,500. Keep hunting one will come up. I found both of mine in the same year (one has now been sold).
Where in heck are you finding A3817s popping up? I don't believe this. The dial is actually remarkably - astonishingly, even - resilient in comparison to other blue dials of the era. The tachy ring is another story....
ok maybe there's not a ton of a3817s around but i got this at a pretty good price (i think) from a european dealer. . . hope its real!
Sure it's real! Case has had a bit of a polish and the running seconds hand might have been replaced, but it's real
thx! a386 landed yesterday. . maybe its heresy but i actually like the case of the a3817 better. . will post a386 pics tonight its a stunner
