I think someone got a very good price on what looks like a really clean a3818. In my experience these have become very hard to find and I think they will ultimately trade at a premium to even the a386 https://catalog.antiquorum.swiss/en/lots?q=A3818
CHF16,250 plus premium would make it approximately CHF20,312 = US$25,500 smackeroos. Now I am glad that the person I offered one of mine to for 15 said no!
I’m not sure ‘sold for’ excludes premium... Also I’m not sure where you’re getting your USD-CHF exchange rate from... it’s ~1-1 now
Dear PHD: Your right a bit of bad maths: The price achieved was CHF16250 hammer, this did not include buyers premium. Buyers premium is 25% plus 8% of the total if the watch is kept in Switzerland. (There may be 8% on the buyers premium no matter where it stays which adds another CHF325=US$328.61) The exchange rate today: from XE currency: 20,312.50 CHF =20,534.66USD Swiss Franc 1 CHF = 1.01094 USD So if the watch left Switzerland the cost to the buyer is US$20,534.66+$328.61 So just shy of $21,000 in Switz $22,181
Actually - the price achieved was 13,000 CHF hammer (See lot 280 here), 16,250 all in https://catalog.antiquorum.swiss/en/auctions/313/price-list
i think in the vintage watch world, 16250 for this watch approaches "no brainer" they seem to come up once every few years now at most
