Looks like this one is a real cherry, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zenith-Chro...162198?hash=item5b1ff4d216:g:MY4AAOSwvUlWspGmPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network What should it bring in today's market? On a side note, I am located in NC, so if there are any forum members overseas that want the watch, but the seller is not willing to ship internationally, I am more than happy to receive the watch and ship it out for you.
Achim offered to have his friends in London help ship watches from the Bonham's auction, and that really impressed me--going above and beyond the call of duty to help fellow collectors.
Does the sub-seconds hand look correct to you guys? Colour looks off and a bit skinny. Maybe repainted. Crown I think is a service as well. But that's kind of nit-picking. Otherwise looks good assuming movement checks out.
...Doesn't it look as if the chronograph hour hand is shorter than the others? Might be why it's covered by the main hour hand in all photos. (I'm just jealous and sad that I can't afford it, really).
It's supposed to be shorter. It's actually the right length for the hour markers which don't extend all the way out to edge. Here's mine. You can compare the colour and width of the subseconds hand on mine to the eBay one as well:
Thanks. Now I have absolutely no reason not to lust for it Why oh why didn't I buy one three years ago?!?
Does anyone else have an opinion on the sub-seconds hand? I've actually seen few examples of the long, skinny blue version, but I have no idea if they are original.
@PHPHD I actually thought that you may have been the one to snag this off eBay. If so congratulations, I think this is a stellar example. Your post today asking for a Gay Freres Bracelet with ZK or ZKM ends for a A3817 is what made me think it might be you.
It actually isn't - but I did have a A3817 that I recently acquired. Edit: Mine, coincidentally, also has that thin blue hand and hence the reason for my asking.
Anyone care to speculate as to what the final sales price would have been had the auction ended? From what I recall there was a fair amount of activity and quite a few 'watchers' (at least more than I am use to seeing on the ebay listings I watch or bid on).
Nice Macro shot, GIGI! And thanks also for confirming that the light and dark sub seconds hands are correct.
It would have been great to let this run until the end to see the actual market value. My assessment for what it's worth - the watch overall was in great condition especially the case and dial. The red chrono hand wasn't in the best shape and as previously discussed it was missing correct sub second hand. There was no movement pic / service history and it was missing the Gay Freres ladder bracelet. As such my guess would be that it would have hit a little over $7k. If it was complete with bracelet maybe closer to $8k Interested to hear others opinions, everyone has been fairly quite so I thought I'd start with what I think is a fair figure.
