A much simpler solution would be a Jaxa style tool with the highlighted tip.

Already made a brief attempt with the Jaxa but it does not get a great grip and was in danger of slipping , would be a pity to scratch the back after all these years.

Ask Paul to make you one

You can call it the Sandy Case Back Tool.

Thermal shock. Invert a can of air (air duster) and spray the caseback. This will instantly freeze the back and you can then remove with a rubber ball or three point wrench, asssuming the very tight caseback is due to a liquidised seal and/or over tightening.

I've used this a couple of times on caseback I couldn't budge any other way.

I'd use super glue and a socket wrench set.

Have done it a couple of times now and it works perfectly. No harm done to the case back at all, just drop the case back and glued-on socket in solvent afterwards and it'll come off. No chance of scratching the metal either...

While I've never used this method, I have heard of it - you need acetone to remove the superglue afterwards (nail varnish remover)m

Managed to open most with the old sticky ball but not this one.
Possible wrench on the horizon thanks to a fellow member, fingers crossed.

Has this gone on long enough now? Should we tell him it's a left hand thread?

If attempting to remove anything with a screw thread that appears seized always apply reverse pressure first ;)
