Over the years, I’ve seen both advertised for sale and I’m trying to sort out if both are correct but one or the other is for a specific caliber or case.

A local watchmaker who has an Omega parts account told me the current replacement crown for the cal. 321 Speedmasters all have the pipe, so I’m most curious about the model without. Thanks.

I think if you order the modern replacement crowns from Omega, the ones for straight lug Speedmasters such as the 105.003 (part number ST43018) have a pipe, while the twisted lug Professional models such as 145.012 (part number ST43069) do not have the pipe. So my assumption is that it was the same for the original crowns.

Interesting…thanks. So I guess the case tube part for each would be different too?

Further, since the stem threads are the same, could one cut the pipe off the crown and retrofit it to a twisted lug case? And I don’t even know if this is a thing, but can the stem be fitted with a pipe at the crown end to allow it to be used with the non-pipe crown?

I assume there might be a difference in the case tubes as well, but I’m not 100% on that. It might be that both type of crown fit both type of case.
