Now we know why there isn't an Omega Boutique in Oklahoma http://kfor.com/2017/03/12/study-4-in-5-oklahoma-city-students-cant-read-clocks/
4 out of 5?! What the heck do children learn in kindergarden or elementary school these days? How to use the APP store on their IPad? This is just sad ..
I agree..... I blame phones and tablets for this failing. They cal tell digital time well My daughter was the last hold out in school as far as I could tell with regards to getting a phone. (That's seriously messed up) Certain responsibilities fall on parents too. I taught my kids to tell time using an analog clock probably at 6
It really pisses me off when I hear people say "Nobody wears watches anymore" or "Do people still wear a watch? I use my phone." Digital time is only good for timing a competition. Give me an analog watch any day.
Funny thing is they probably can't read a clock but can jump on your smartphone or computer and do things you didn't even know were possible...
There was an interview with Ariel Adams from Ablogtowatch.com in which he admitted to not being able to tell time from a clock face instantly when he got his first watch with a proper handset when he was around 20, I think. He had to concentrate and "...if the small hand is at..." before working out what time it was.
Taught in kindergarten here. I remember it was a bit of a struggle, for a couple of days, helping my kid understand that one of the hands points to imaginary minute markers.
