Does Franken even apply...maybe more of a "Freaky" collection of parts.

Unbelieveable - how can this person have such positive ebay- feedbacks? Clueless customers only?

Does the serial number look like 2844? That would make the movement match the caseback 145.022-69, about the only thing that does.

Yeah, saw this the other day. I was talking with another WIS last night over drinks and he remarked that he's been chasing a 105.003 for a long time and has yet to find an original one in great condition that's up for sale. Seems like there's always a few out there, but they're just dog sh(* examples.

Tend to agree. Hard to find even a half decent example. Did you see the one the other day for US$14,500?

I am starting to look away from Speedmasters, more to Seamasters and Constellations. Seems to be a cheaper way to enjoy vintages watches for what they are and not how much they cost.

    Wow, no. Link?

EDIT: Gotcha, the tropical that Kirill is offering. Tropical certainly has something to do with the price, even though I'm not drawn to tropical dials whatsoever.

I'm not drawn to tropicals either. One mans patina another mans degradation. That was cheap compared to the 105.012 I enquired about at 22,000CHF! Edited to say not one of Kirills.

There are two photos of a 105 caseback in the listing.
Serial looks like 2344 to me.

A 145.022 would have the 861 movement, which the watch in question certainly doesn't.

I don't think its that bad.

The mid case, bezel, dial, hands and movement all look correct for a 105.003. Even the 68 1935 is probably original as these were sold well into 68/69. The only things that are incorrect are the end links and case back, which several people have said were often mixed up at service, and the pushers and crown which are service items.

Don't get me wrong the condition is very poor and it looks terrible, but as for correctness, the main components are there.

That 69 caseback in the listing is not the same one as on the watch in the photos.

I bet the watch arrives with the correct 105.003-65 back. After all he got the description from somewhere.

Assuming it arrives at all from Caracas, this watch will clean up well - it will still show its age, but the way things are going I think its not a dishonest watch - I cant see how Franken can be used on this watch at all.

My main worry is the quality of the seller, and does the watch exist.

I don't think we should be tarring all South American sellers with the same brush.
Check out his past sales and buyer feedback.

    Hi

I would be more concerned about the import duties than the Watch....c'mon guys , it's the thrill of the chase :D

    fair point.
I had more in mind that physical journey from Venezuela - and through customs.
