Just wanted to make a quick update and shout out thread. 2998-2 back from it's long journey which wouldnt have been possible without Simon @simonfreese , William @Spacefruit , and unwittingly the davidoff brothers (via eBay). Thank you all very much. Been quite a ride.

So the grand reveal: She's not perfect but has quite a bit of character.

What is not to like on an honest watch

 

Gotta keep something for a daily wearer! Hopefully this will pay for her first year of university when the time comes.

 

I don't get the need to own every reference of these when the variations are so small . Leaf subdials hands, stick chrono seconds hand, small minute markers on the minute subdial, Base 1000 bezel.



...which is to say, nice pick up man! Well done!

 

Don't forget : 70% cocoa dial

 

Question for the experts:. Narrow lume on the hour and minute hands original? Yay or nay ?

 

I think generally seen on these earlier references, less so for later ones.

...not that I'm an expert by any means.

Great speedie, nice to see it with the correct base 1000 bezel! Regarding the lume, my 2998-3 had the narrow style on the minute hand and the wider style on the hour hand. The poor watch didn't know what it wanted to be

One more "Yay" for you and congrats! I was watching this watch on an auction site from the get go and then later the bezel thinking what a journey the owner would have to go through. I'm sure it's been a fruitful and great one. Wear it in good health!
