I finally received info from Simon Freese that my latest batch of Speedys were ready for a pickup!
Wooop - wooop!!
🥰

I had been waiting for them for some time (and more), and I am a very patient person, but it did take a very very loooong time!

But first - lets address the Elephant in the room?
Simone Freese!

There has been tons and tons of posts regarding how he runs his workshop, his conduct, his non coms etc etc.
I have also had some chats with forum friends about their experiences with Simon.
A few have only nice and positive experiences, but there are also lots of people who are not happy with him.

It is of course not OK to do poor services on watches, not sort out missing parts etc etc.
And that there are no (or very little) coms is also a bit saddening, and not so professional!

I myself have been very aware of this, but have not had any major issues,
except for the waiting time,
and also that Simon kept on pushing the pick-up date forward and forward....😒

You have all read about Simon's personal and financial issues, I feel very much for this (him) and have some understanding,
but I will not discuss this any further here.

This post is about my latest experience with my Speedys!
😀

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions regarding Simon?

Back to the Speedys!

I had three Speedys to pick-up:

a 145.022-78
This one is for my brother, and here is the post I did on that one:

a 145.022-71
I have not done a post on this one…🙄🤔
I bought it at an auction, and it went straight to Simon!
So no time for me to take before pictures and play with the watch!
It looked like it had a pleasing tone on the dial, nice lumeplots, the case had a few battlescars, but it looked very promising.

And I wanted a 71, so I got it!

This is the so called The Quiz watch (thanks @Aludic 👍👍👍)!!
Post on this watch:

Same story here….It shipped directly to Simon…
I had plans to changed the chrono hand to a period correct,
but Simon did the service on this one before we sorted out the chrono part….
well well.....maybe next time?

I only had a day to go back and forth to London, so it was the Red-eye flight from Copenhagen!

I met Simon at his workshop, had a nice chat and then we went to have lunch!
It was a very pleasing lunch (with a pint or two...😉), and we talked about our families, work and of course watches!
Back to the workshop to check out my watches, I also had another Speedy that was in need for a service, so a drop off for this one.
TBH, I have a few more Speedys that are in need for a service, but I did not want to stress Simon with more watches….
Maybe in the future?

I had planed in some ”Tourist” time, so back to central London.
And then the last flight back to Copenhagen…
Pweeew…that was a looong, but a very, very nice day!

Attaching pictures with some comments.

Enjoy!!

Congrats Hans, you must be delighted with the trip to London and a sense to achievement to have them home again!

We’re heading over to London on Monday (family overnight holiday) and I’m feeling a bit disappointed than I don’t have a new purchase to collect as usually my trips to the UK coincide with a watch purchase 😊. Last year I was picking up a Speedy from the London Silver Vaults which was a memorable experience.

Beautiful. All 3, though I really like the -78. Thanks for posting the pics, I'm consuming as much as I can in my hunt for the first speedy.

Thanks Ron!
Really happy to have them back, and the 78 for my brother took almost a year....😅
He freaked out when I handed him the watch, and he is completely over the moon!

Here is some good news (for me)!

I had a Speedy with me that was in need for a service, and I left this one to Simon.
And I received an assessment yesterday!

So the coms from Simon might be heading the right way??
😀

I did a post about the watch a while ago:

Have a nice weekend OF!
