On the 'bay. Actually the caseback reads 145.0012. I cant believe people who deal in watches have the front to offer this without full disclosure. The listing his here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-Rare-v...890?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d309a664aPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network And my own take on it here: http://speedmaster101.com/uncategorized/a-145-012-for-sale-on-ebay/ Its got a 2052xxxx movement, chrono creep and the wrong bezel!
Pretty much a text book example of a put together Franken. Trudging through threads exactly like this is how I learnt what (not) to look for and they're a great source With these kind of watches and listings, where the seller know what to say and more importantly, what not to say, along with decent pics, I'm sure 99% of the time they know exactly what they're selling.
solid analysis @Spacefruit - documenting and adding to the community's knowledge of how to spot these beasts is a benefit to us all.
This watch was posted on the sales forum here not long ago. The seller and another member weren't too happy when I questioned the sellers description. And the rest is history.
Classic Frankenmaster shot there: the crystal just obscures the dot next to the 90... Must have seen that a hundred times now!
Ha ha! Just noticed the seller is in Borehamwood. That's a short walk from Elstree Studios where, in 1972, they filmed this... DT
