Hello all, Found this one on sale and went for it on a hunch - wasn't 100% sure so I had omega retrieve an extract from the archives. Certainly glad I did because it contains some information on there which is new to me (and I imagine you too). It's an Omega 3597.03 - I'm sure you can tell from the dial it is the one of the missions watches (in this case the Gemini 5) that Omega released in the late 90s. Up until now I had believed there were 150 of these released (outside of the ones included in the full case sets) but according to the extract they were even more limited, 100 of this one (and I presume the others too but, not sure) Anyway, had to share it - sure you can appreciate why. Comments welcome.
It's based on the insignia from the Gemini 5 mission, called the 'cooper patch', named after one of the astronauts who took part: Paid quite a lot for it - still a bargain in my eyes though!
The Apollo 11 is the one that's most sought after according to the MWO book. The missions pieces are all cool imo!
Yes - that was really the thing I wanted to highlight in sharing this. Basically everything I had read until receiving that extract was that 150 of each were produced but now... who knows?
Well I was under the impression that Omega couldn't give and exact figure, I heard between 100-150pcs each
