    best to use ilovemyspeedmaster.com It specifically states it is for the 321/861/1861 movements, so this would be Mark II as well.

    Unfortunately I’m buying a mk4.5.

    Depending on which list you choose it’s either 1975 or 1979

    It’s not a price issue, it’s a birth year issue

    2 or 3 things come to mind....::confused2::

    1)I suppose if Omega say it's a Speedmaster then it is a Speedmaster.

    2) If it's a birth year thing, do you want your birth year to match the case reference, the year of the serial range or the extract of the archives production date?

    3) With regard to the Mk2 case designs, as I understand it, they still used the 861 movement.
    (The chart you linked us to only goes up to 1972 and I think the Mk3 and Mk4 used an automatic movement)
    So I would have thought that 861 serial ranges between 1969 and 1972 would not apply to a Mk4.5.

    This might be an interesting read. Grab a beer and enjoy it.

    You don’t under stand the question? Right. On the link above takes you to a website where there are two tables one for speedmasters, one for non.

    Depending on which table you use a watch with a serial of 39 is either 1975 or 1979.

    Now the question is, is a mk4.5 speed master a Speedmaster as far as serials go or does it use the non-Speedmaster numbers?

    I think the answer is probably ‘non’ but I was hoping someone could confirm

    My guess would be the non speedmaster chart is an approximation. An extract can tell you.
